As you can tell by the post title this is going to be a somewhat different post. My mum is pretty awesome and she is also a DIYer. She sent me an email a while ago about a project she had completed and this is what I will be sharing with you today.
One morning while walking the dog I passed a skip with some old furniture amongst other stuff. I picked up a side table, brought it home and stored it for a few days.
Today, being a day off work, I decided that it was time to act! First I sanded half of the table using a Black&Decker Mouse sanding machine. It worked perfectly both on the tabletop and the curved sides.
Then it was time to add some paint. I decided to go for a purple color, as this table was to be placed in the hallway where we have a feature wall in this color. After the first coat had dried, I took a sanding paper and sanded by hand, then applied the second coat.
When this was air dry I took the table into the yard and sawed it in two. I sanded the edge and “hung” it on the wall.
A nice plant in matching color and a Stelton design oil lamp was chosen as the decorative element.
Thank you amazing mum for letting me post this on my blog! I think it looks so awesome and I was super excited to see it in person. I was quite shocked when I did because it was a lot shorter than it looks like on the picture. But it still works really well in their entrance. I am thinking of painting a painting for them to go in this room (on the wall to the right) and this would be an excellent colour for some details. Now I just have to figure out what motive to paint!
